I see myself as an interdisciplinary artist. My work in the visual arts comes informed by life-long practices in other artistic fields, including dance, the performing arts, and literature. Movement, rhythm, gesture combine with a narrative aspect in abstractions that often still engage with figurative elements. I bring to my paintings the listening skills developed as a contact improvisation practitioner, and enjoy exploring the weight and size of the moment at the intersection of these influences. I create in various scales and media—oil and acrylic paint, found objects, textile. Elements of collage recur across media as a way to express the complexity and fragmentation of experience, as well as the epiphanies of juxtapositions.
Born and raised in a small French coastal town, I live, dance, write, and paint in Petaluma, California.
